Emerging Media Research Group (EMeRG) is a faculty-student research collaborative at The University of Alabama’s College of Communication and Information Sciences. Adopting an interdisciplinary and multi-method approach, EMeRG offers a space where graduate students and faculty members work together on social-scientific, empirical research about the political and social implications of emerging media technologies. In particular, our research seeks to understand how emerging media technologies shape social and psychological aspects of modern life in democratic societies.

In the process of conducting research, the group also provides training opportunities for graduate students, who are involved in every facet of our projects. We believe in a hands-on learning approach, training students to design, coordinate and implement social-scientific research projects, as well as to analyze quantitative datasets and publish the results.
